Tray Designer
Create a serving tray with finger joints: low long walls, raised end walls with an arc, slopes or a straight top – and handle cutouts in three shapes. Choose dimensions, material thickness and finger width, check the result in 2D and 3D and export the cut files.
End wall profile
Choose a shallow circular arc, slopes with a flat center section or a uniformly taller end wall. The rise above the long walls is fully adjustable.
Handle cutouts
Centered handle cutouts in both end walls as a slot, ellipse or rectangle with corner radius. Width, height and distance from the top are free – the web to the edge always stays at least one material thickness.
Finger joints all around
Bottom, long walls and end walls interlock with finger joints. Or go enclosed: the end walls wrap around the long walls and the bottom sits in closed wall slots – smooth on the outside.
Tips for trays
- Material: 4–6 mm plywood for a tray that carries dishes; 3 mm is fine for a small bread or fruit tray.
- Handle cutouts: About 100 × 30 mm is comfortable for a hand. Set the distance from the top so the web above the cutout stays wide enough to look solid – the tool keeps at least one material thickness.
- End wall rise: The arc or slope adds height exactly where you grip. 30–50 mm above the long walls is a good starting point.
- Finish: Sand the finger joints flush after gluing and finish with a food-safe oil.
